Fourth grade students learned about worm composting and how important worms our for our planet. They created posters, booklet pages, and Google slide presentations to educate their schoolmates. Students also made informative commercials to educate their schoolmates about worms and their importance. They made mini worm domes and had to care for their worms while collecting data as to how many worms their domes contained. They then had to determine rather they were caring for their worms properly by comparing their data to see if they were reproducing or dying. They also had to collect ¨wonder questions" from their fellow scholars to conduct research and teach lessons to answer the inquiry questions.
Worm Compost Posters ¨Learn¨
Worm Compost Google Slide Presentations ¨Teach¨
Students worked individually and in small groups to create Google Slide presentations about worm composting to teach their fellow scholars all about worm composting. Check out a few of their presentations below!
Students worked in groups to create videos to inform others about worm composting. Check out some of our videos below!
Worm Habitats ¨Do¨
Students created small worm habitats. They had to maintain the environment by providing the earthworms with the proper moisture, air flow, and food supply. Students periodically counted the earthworms to determine if the habitat was conducive to their survival.
Students built an outdoor compost out of pallets and zip ties. They looked at different designs and then collaborated with one another to construct it.
